AdminWhich Gameboy Advance classics deserve to return to the Nintendo Switch?
With the imminent arrival of Gameboy Advance games in the Nintendo Switch Online subscription, the time has come to go back in time to the early 2000s to look back on the games that marked this era. The Gameboy Advance carried a number of titles that have now become cults, and it’s high time to put them back in the spotlight on Nintendo’s latest console.
When we talk about the games that have marked the life of the Gameboy Advance, it is often Golden Sun which first comes to mind. Released on February 22, 2002, this JRPG has managed to impress players with its narrative quality, the originality of its gameplay, and its endearing characters.
Going on an adventure in the world of Weyard to try to find the power of Alchemy will never lose its charm.
If we weren’t lucky enough to find Isaac in Super Smash Bros Ultimate, finding him and his friends in their original adventure would be a nice consolation prize. This addition would also boost the popularity of this series which has not received a new episode since Golden Sun: Dark Aurora on Nintendo DS in 2010.
With Kingdom Hearts IV on the way, and the collection of games from the license now available on the Switch in cloud version, integrating the Gameboy Advance episode of the series into the new Switch Online catalog is obvious.
Although this one has its 3D remake in Kingdom Hearts 1.5 + 2.5 HD Remixthis Gameboy version has its own charm and deserves to make a comeback.
You can explore the depths of Oblivion Manor in search of Sora’s memories in an episode of the saga with gameplay combining action and card game
The third generation of Pokémon is a classic that no longer needs to be proven successful. After remakes released in 2014 on 3DS, it’s time for the original versions to come back to the fore.
An inclusion of online would be the perfect opportunity to rediscover the multiplayer modes of these games as at the time of the cable link, and a synergy with Pokémon Home would even make it possible to send its Pokémon from Hoenn into the future 9th generation.
What more ? Perhaps the Combat Zone of Pokémon Emerald which had been forgotten Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire…
The spin-offs of Final Fantasy do not always manage to make an impression, but this one will have forged a place of honor among the cult games of the GBA.
Released in 2003 in Europe, this game takes up the gameplay introduced in the game of the same name released on PlayStation in 1997. We thus find isometric 3D graphics and a game system that has proven itself, since games of the genre continue to appear, such as the recent Triangle Strategy released last March on Nintendo Switch.
If you like to mix RPG and puzzle, saving the kingdom of Ivalice in this iconic adventure is sure to please you.
The possible addition of Mother 3 to the Switch’s Gameboy Advance catalog of games is more dream than reality, but we couldn’t at least name this gem from the GBA. This game is the 3rd installment in the series that European gamers know as Earthbound.
bearing the name of Mother in Japan, this crazy JRPG series is at the origin of the characters of Ness and Lucas that we can find in different episodes of the license Super Smash Bros.
Never released outside of Japan, fans have been asking for an official adaptation of this episode for years, without ever seeing their wish come true.
However, the first episode of the saga Mother had also never been released in Europe before its adaptation on Wii U released in 2015 under the name of Earthbound Beginnings.
The latest Nintendo Direct revealed the addition of Earthbound and Earthbound Beginnings to the SNES and NES catalog of Nintendo Switch Online, so nothing is impossible for a possible official release of Earthbound 3.
The Gameboy Advance toy library is full of little nuggets that we would like to be able to find on the Switch. Unfortunately, it is impossible to list them all here, but it is important to mention a few cult games that will most likely appear in Nintendo’s new service according to the leak a few days ago.
Thus, we also hope to find:
And many others !
As a reminder, the Nintendo Switch Online + Additional Pack subscription is priced at €39.99 for a single account and €69.99 for a family account that can include up to 8 accounts.
