Sony is slowly but surely preparing its return to the world of VR with new details about its state-of-the-art headset.

PlayStation players are getting impatient with the idea of being able to discover new virtual worlds on their PS5. Although the first PSVR headset of the name is compatible with the latest from Sony, it is the latest model in development that attracts the covetousness of fans of the Japanese manufacturer. The famous PSVR 2 was announced in 2021 and it should not take long to land at the various retailers.

This newcomer would prepare his arrival for the end of this year. However, the ongoing component supply concerns that the market has been facing for some time now could well jeopardize these forecasts. Despite everything, Sony continues to communicate about its little gem of technology and reveals essential features that are not unknown to us

When Sony is inspired by competitors

In a blog post, the manufacturer is showing new comfort options that its old virtual reality headset did not have. However, these new features for the PS VR range are not really for other competitors on the market. Indeed, by discovering the presentation of Sony, the features highlighted are reminiscent of what has been done for two years already at Meta Quest in particular.

The ability to see through your helmet, the adaptive game zone and the ability to play in cinema mode, there are so many options that have become market essentials to offer a comfortable and modern VR experience. And without surprises, Sony is inspired by the best to satisfy its players. The first two options allow increased and significant security during VR gaming sessions. The cinema mode for its part allows, as its name suggests, to settle in a virtual cinema to play non-VR games from its library of titles, a nice addition but although more or less anecdotal.

Streamers will be delighted to be able to record their sessions and reactions using the PS5 camera for memorable moments. The PSVR 2 promises to offer a multitude of experiences upon its release with no less than 20 titles as announced by Jim Ryan last May. With breathtaking technical characteristics (which you can find here in our dedicated file) and the quality of the PlayStation user experience, this new headset could well establish itself as a leader in the virtual reality market.
