The RPG Genshin Impact will be entitled to its animated adaptation, by the creators of Demon Slayer.
A real video game phenomenon when it is released in 2020, Genshin Impact quickly established itself as one of the most popular games of recent years. Behind its JRPG aesthetic, the Chinese free-to-play has managed to gather its audience on PC and console. Logically, the game will be entitled to its animated adaptation.
Demon Slayer is going to meet MiHoYo
Shortly before the 3.1 update, the extended universe HoYoverse unveiled a first trailer for its anime Genshin Impact. To stage the adventures of Voyageur and his traveling companions, the Chinese studio has pulled out all the stops: indeed, it’s Ufotable, already at work on the adaptation of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba and Fate/Zero who will do the animation.
The first images unveiled do not actually tell us much about the content of the animated series. It is not yet known if this adaptation will faithfully follow the adventures of Paimon and Voyageur, or if the series will allow itself some digressions in the world of Teyvat. Only certainty, the hero duo formed by Lumine and Aether should have their role to play in the story. In view of the first images, the Mondstadt region and the Mount Dosdragon should also be part of it. The landscapes unveiled promise to be grandiose, it remains to be seen what the animation will give in combat. Ufotable had managed to deliver an epic adaptation of demon slayerso we can expect that Genshin Impact follow the same path.
Obviously, the series will not be broadcast immediately. This is a long-term work for the HoYoverse, which will probably not see the light of day for several months or even a few years. However, this project around the RPG sounds like new proof of the public’s growing interest in video game adaptations. Just a few days ago, the animated version of Cyberpunk: Edge Runners had already been emulated on Netflix. It remains to be seen which platform will win the broadcasting rights for Genshin Impact.
