Already a hiccup for the new PlayStation Plus

The first steps of the new PlayStation Plus formula are a bit complicated for Sony. In Japan, the manufacturer suffered the wrath of players who paid more than expected for their subscription.

PlayStation Plus is Sony’s answer to Microsoft’s Game Pass. After having waited a long time, the Japanese manufacturer must not miss it, it is imperative for this new offer to quickly find its marks and carve out large market shares.

Players paid too much

Pending the European launch, the formulas of the new PlayStation Plus are already available in Japan and in part of Asia. And the least we can say is that it didn’t go as well as Sony had hoped. A first controversy thus broke out, coming from players who had the unpleasant surprise of paying more for their subscription.

Those who had subscribed to a discounted PS Plus subscription were in effect forced to pay more to make up the difference with the normal price of the offer. And to this was added the additional cost necessary in the event of subscription to one of the two higher formulas. A logical additional cost if we decide to take the upper level of the offer, but which hurts the wallet all the more.

Fortunately, Sony quickly made amends. The builder explained that due to a ” technical error “, players who previously subscribed to a discounted PlayStation Plus subscription were” incorrectly billed to get the new formula. The error has been fixed and affected players will receive a voucher. Sony did not provide details regarding this small commercial gesture.

In less than a month, on June 23, Sony will launch the new PlayStation Plus in Europe. Fingers crossed that there is no such problem! Remember that three formulas are offered: Essentials for €8.99 per month, Extra for €13.99 and Premium for €16.99. Each level brings its advantages, the most interesting being obviously the most expensive subscription with 700 titles and the game in streaming.
