AdminPlayStation is quietly announcing that the next Final Fantasy 16 will once again be a PS5 exclusive.
Final Fantasy 16 will be a PS5 exclusive… or almost. In a video published by Sony praising the performance of its console and its DualSense controller, the manufacturer includes some images of its upcoming or already released games. Among them, Final Fantasy 16the next entry planned for the illustrious Square Enix franchise, which has been rather discreet for a few months.
By taking a closer look at the newly unveiled images, however, fans were in for a little surprise. After 15 seconds of video, it is marked at the bottom of the screen that Final Fantasy 16 will be a temporary 6-month exclusive for PS5 players. As a reminder, the game is supposed to be released in the summer of 2023 and no other platform has been announced yet.
Knowing that it will be a temporary PS5 exclusive is therefore not great news in itself, what is more surprising is rather the duration of it. After 6 months, players on other platforms – surely the Xbox Series and/or the PC ecosystem – will also be able to enjoy Square Enix’s JRPG but will have to be patient beforehand. In view of the release window of the title, they will therefore be able to get their hands on it at the earliest in the winter of 2023 or the beginning of 2024.
However, it should be kept in mind that development concerns have been commonplace for a few years and that a possible postponement remains possible for the moment. The latest trailer was shared a few weeks ago and told us more about the plot of Final Fantasy 16.
