Microsoft formalizes a partnership with Hideo Kojima for a mysterious game. What about his relationship with PlayStation?
This June 12, Xbox and Bethesda held an incredible conference that served to showcase the next games coming to consoles and PC over the next 12 months. Among the announcements, which we have summarized for you here, a very famous developer made a surprise appearance. This is Hideo Kojima, the genius behind the games Metal Gear Solid or the recent death stranding.
If he appeared in the middle of the conference, it was to announce his exclusive partnership with Microsoft and Xbox for the development of an upcoming game. An announcement that many were waiting for, and which had been at the center of many rumors for months already. Hideo Kojima then explains:
“There’s a game I’ve always wanted to make. It’s a completely new game, which no one has ever seen or experienced before. I waited a very long time for the day when I could finally start creating it. Thanks to Microsoft’s cutting-edge cloud technology and changing industry trends, it is now possible to challenge myself to realize this unique concept. It may take a while, but I look forward to teaming up with Xbox Game Studios and hope to bring you some exciting news in the future.”
No need to choose anymore?
If this announcement caused a stir, it’s because Hideo Kojima’s last game was exclusive to PlayStation, Microsoft’s great rival. After a years-long collaboration with Sony, rumors claimed that the developer might just “turn around” and work with the green team. According to some media, Sony was not satisfied with the sales of death strandingdespite his international success.
However, there was no physical evidence supporting the theory of an alliance with Microsoft. But while this is nevertheless the case, many are asking questions about the future of Kojima Productions. Just a few days ago, we also learned from the mouth of Norman Reedus that Death Stranding 2 was well and truly on the way, surely as a PlayStation exclusive for the second time.
It therefore seems that Hideo Kojima has managed to combine the best of each world, and will therefore officially focus on his collaboration with Microsoft, while continuing to work secretly on death stranding 2, which still has not been confirmed either by him or by Sony. But his relationship with the firm continues to flourish. He also reassures his fans on Twitter about this. His project with Microsoft is still unknown for the moment, but one thing is sure, he should (once again) revolutionize the world of gaming.
After the announcement of our partnership with Microsoft using the cloud technology, many people have asked us about our collaboration with SIE. Please be assured that we continue to have a very good partnership with PlayStation® as well.#KojimaProductionshttps://t.co/mVOELwDuk9
