The Gearbox studio has just specified the return of crossplay on the PlayStation versions of Borderlands 3.
Right now, the news is flying for the license Borderlands. After the announcement of a first DLC for Tiny Tina’s Wonderland, the new spin-off of the license, as well as an unexpected sequel to the narrative game Tales From the Borderlands, another good news awaits players of the crazy FPS. Or at least PlayStation gamers.
In fact, the studio Gearbox finally announced the return of crossplay on Sony consoles for next spring. For the moment, no precise date for this return, but at least one thing is certain: it will be soon.

This decision comes almost a year later removal of crossplay on the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 consoles, which was done without justification, in an update deployed overnight.
Although no reason was given, this sudden change seemed largely attributed to Sony’s cross-platform gaming policy. Indeed, Epic’s lawsuit against Apple revealed that Sony was asking publishers and developers for a portion of their income made on each of the platforms to allow crossplay to be implemented on PlayStation versions of games.
A sudden throwback
With the release of Tiny Tina’s WonderlandGearbox had announced that it would offer a full cross-platform experience, also including consoles from Sony. In fact, players expected and hoped for a return of this feature on the studio’s previous game.
It’s now confirmed, but again, no information has been revealed from Gearbox or Sony. The original decision coming from publisher 2Kit is very likely that discussions have taken place between them and Sony to find a new agreement.
Hopefully, then, this new found common ground out of sight can last for PlayStation gamers to go and wreak havoc on the Borderlands and the fantasy world of Tiny Tina with their friends, no matter their gaming platform.
As a reminder, Borderlands 3 and Tiny Tina’s Wonderland are already available on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation.
