To play mobile games, it is often easier to do so with a controller in hand. Here is how to connect a PS5 or Xbox Series controller to your Android smartphone.

Video game enthusiasts cannot miss the growing phenomenon of mobile games. Popular for several years, the pandemic has offered them increasing visibility, and they are becoming popular today by reaching all possible audiences. However, it seems that many players are facing an issue regarding the accessibility of controls.

While all mobile games obviously support touch controls, they are sometimes complicated to master in certain titles, or for players who are used to more classic video games. That’s why connecting a controller can be a very effective fallback. We therefore explain to you how to connect your next-gen controller, therefore compatible with PS5 or Xbox Series, to your Android smartphone.

Connect a PS5 controller (DualSense) to an Android smartphone

We start with the Sony controller specially created for the PS5, namely the DualSense. To connect it to your smartphone, you will need to activate the latter’s Bluetooth in the settings. Once done, take your controller and simultaneously press the PS and “Create” buttons (on the left of the touchpad). Hold down until a blue light flashes under the touchpad.

Then, search for the controller in the available Bluetooth devices and click on “pair”. In our case, our smartphone displays the name “Wireless Controller”. You can now enjoy your controller on your smartphone. Be careful though, it will not necessarily be compatible with all games.

Connect an Xbox Series controller to an Android smartphone

As for the Xbox Series controller, the approach is almost the same. To connect it to your smartphone, you will also need to activate the latter’s Bluetooth in the settings. Once done, take your controller and press the pairing button just next to the USB-C port. Hold down until the logo flashes rapidly.

Then, find the controller in the available Bluetooth devices and click on “pair”. In our case, our smartphone displays the name “Xbox Wireless Controller”. You can now enjoy your controller on your smartphone. If it seems compatible with more games natively, do not expect to see it working everywhere.
