LeBron James’ Historic Earnings



According to the specialized site Sportico, LeBron James has been the highest paid athlete for a year. His 127 million euros received for a year is even a record for the Lakers player.

At 37, LeBron James is not weakening. Evidenced by his statistics delivered this season with the Lakers. For his 19and season in the League, the Californian star has indeed turned to 30.3 points, 8.2 rebounds and 6.2 assists on average. Insufficient, however, to shine the Lakers, who did not even manage to qualify for the playoffs, the Californian franchise having to settle for a poor 11and place in the Western Conference.

However, the former Cavs player had a particularly good season financially. According to estimates from the Sportico site, King James has been the highest paid player in the last 12 months. In total, the Californian star would have amassed some 121.7 million euros ($127 million), setting a new personal best. In detail, the basketball player would have received €35.4 million in salary and €86.3 million thanks to his numerous advertising contracts.

These €121.7 million in earnings put him ahead of the two world football icons, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, who follow with €116.9 million for the Argentinian and €110.2 million for the Portuguese. While Neymar (€98.7m) and boxer Canelo Alvarez (€85.3m) complete the Top, followed by two other basketball players, Stephen Curry (€82.6m)) and Kevin Durant (€82.3m) ), ahead of Roger Federer (€82.1m) despite an almost blank year, James Harden (€72.8m) and Tiger Woods (€70.4m).

Note that it is NBA basketball players who take the lion’s share with 36 representatives in the Top 100, ahead of NFL players (25) and footballers (13). Among the French, only Kylian Mbappé appears in this Top 100, the PSG player ranking 21st with €46.8 million in earnings.
