(Montreal) There is no longer a fear for the life of one of two construction workers who were hit by a co-worker on Highway 25 North in Montreal.

The accident occurred around 5:15 a.m. Saturday morning, near the Sherbrooke Street exit.

“We are talking about an employee on board a van who reversed and hit two of his colleagues, who were doing marking work,” said Sergeant Marythé Bolduc, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).

One of the two men, aged 37, was in critical condition when taken to hospital. His health eventually stabilized and there was no fear for his life. The other individual struck suffered minor injuries.

The driver of the van was also taken to hospital as he suffered a nervous shock.

The Commission for Standards, Equity, Health and Safety at Work (CNESST) will investigate this work accident.

The Sûreté du Québec is also conducting its own investigation.

“This morning, reconstructionists in collision investigation from the Sûreté du Québec were on site as well as investigators from the SQ to clarify the circumstances surrounding this work accident,” said Sergeant Bolduc.

The SQ investigation is continuing.
