NBA: Two French cut

In the NBA, Frenchmen Killian Tillie and Timothé Luwawu-Cabarrot were cut, respectively by the Memphis Grizzlies and the Phoenix Suns.

The French contingent in the NBA is decreasing. Indeed, two franchises have decided to separate from two Habs. This is the case of the Memphis Grizzlies, who will not retain Killian Tillie. The French interior, who occupies a position where there are already people and whose contract amounted to 1.9 million dollars, was therefore cut by its formation based in the State of Tennessee, forced to reduce its workforce so that there are only a total of fifteen guaranteed contracts left. However, since his arrival in this same franchise, the Habs had chained two “two-way contracts” then an extension. Despite everything, it is therefore officially, and this since this Saturday, the end of the adventure for him in Memphis. This is the very last player cut from the Grizzlies, in the midst of the rise of Santi Aldama, well used during the preseason before the return of Jaren Jackson Jr, and especially before the announcement of the final roster.

Luwawu-Cabarrot played the preseason with the Suns

Just days before the start of the 2022-23 regular season of the prestigious Basketball League. Now 24, Killian Tillie will now have to bounce back, after two seasons in the NBA, for a total of 54 games played at 3.2 points and 1.6 rebounds on average. Another Frenchman is in the same situation and it is Timothé Luwawu-Cabarrot. The latter was cut by the Phoenix Suns franchise. The Frenchman remains on a rather mixed Eurobasket on a personal level. If he certainly thought he would get the very last place in this team’s squad, it will not be the case. The French international had been with Arizona since the end of September. During the preseason, the guard (or winger) had the opportunity to play a total of three games, averaging 8 points and 4 rebounds in 20 minutes of play.
