new gameplay images for God of War Ragnarök

God of War, Tekken 8, Hogwarts Legacy… Recap of Sony’s announcements during its eventful State of Play.

September 13 was a very busy day for video game fans. After Nintendo’s crazy announcements about The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, the sequel to Breath of the Wild, it was Sony who regaled us with a slew of new footage from highly anticipated games. Contrary to what we hoped, we were not entitled to the release date of PSVR 2, but some interesting surprises were added to the program.

The most important news concerns the next opus god of war, which gets a new gameplay trailer, which presents us in more detail the history of the game. We pick up Kratos and Atreus where we left them in 2018, as the wrath of Odin threatens to descend of the 9 kingdoms. But that’s not all, fans of magic or even combat were also very well served during this presentation. Recap.

The god of war is closer than ever

The release date of God of War Ragnarok fast approaching, and it shows. Sony took advantage of its State of Play to tell us more about the next adventures of Kratos, which is back in service (perhaps for the last time) on November 9th. Sony therefore tells us that “Atreus hungers for knowledge to help him grasp “Loki’s” prophecy, as Kratos struggles to free himself from the past and be the father his son needs. All the while, Asgard’s eyes watch their every move…“. Case to follow.

We note in any case that visually, the title sticks to the standard of beauty and photorealism established in 2018, so we should not be disappointed. Will it be game of the year again? The answer in a few weeks. Note that a controller in the colors of the game will be available for sale from November 9 as well.

“Tekken 8 goes next-gen”

Then, Sony took the opportunity to lift the veil on tekken 8, the sequel to the popular fighting game franchise. After an enigmatic teaser shared several days ago, we were treated to a trailer showing both gameplay and cinematics, brought up to date. The title is still in the early development phase, so we won’t know more for now, but the game is expected on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.

Among the other announcements, we note that Hogwarts Legacy made an unexpected appearance and revealed to us a special quest, with a particularly gloomy atmosphere. We were also able to see the Stellar Blade story trailerformerly known as Project Eve. Team Ninja took the opportunity to unveil its next action RPG, called Rise of the Ronin, and we were particularly charmed by the gameplay images of Like A Dragon: Ishin.

For more on the rest of the announced games, be sure to watch the full presentation20 minutes long.
