pagani | The Huayra Codalunga, for the pleasure of the eyes

Horacio Pagani is one of those automotive visionaries that we no longer see. An artist at heart and a great lover of beauty, he created a brand whose works are literally mobile sculptures combining art and science with great sensitivity. So, when Pagani launches a new version of its only model, the Huayra, we take a break to contemplate this magnificent object.

Here then is the Pagani Huayra Codalunga, which exists to pay homage to coachbuilders in the 1960s who hand-crafted timeless shapes that are still the envy of many today. This Codalunga version stems from a request from a customer of the brand who wanted to have a “long-tail” Huayra, therefore with an elongated rear part like many endurance racing cars. The rear cover, which closes on the engine compartment, thus sees its length increased by 36 cm, making its profile even more graceful.

It’s still a 6L twin-turbo V12 tuned by AMG – Mercedes-Benz’s high-performance subsidiary – beating in the rear center position. It produces in its case 829 hp and a torque of 811 lb-ft. Due to the widespread use of carbon fiber, the car weighs only 1280 kg, which is about thirty kilos less than a Honda Civic sedan. Pagani also specifies that all the structural elements made of carbon fiber are not painted, to preserve the more raw visual aspect of the competition cars, the source of inspiration.

The five copies that will be produced are all already sold at a unit price of 7 million euros (about 9.6 million CAN). As fascinating as it is inaccessible.
