The Epic Games Store did not take the shock by offering Death Stranding
The Epic Games Store has once again made the event for Christmas, offering many games until December 29. And among the big free names that players were able to download, there is one in particular that made an impression… Unfortunately, technical difficulties and some confusion spoiled the party.
For years, Epic’s game store has been giving away free titles for Christmas. This year was no exception, with gifts delivered between December 15 and 29. Every day was a party, with Sand, Wolfenstein: The New Order or Metro Last Light Redux Christmas Eve. But it was indeed on December 25 that the Epic Games Store caused a sensation.

The publisher has indeed agreed with Kojima Productions to offer store users nothing less than death stranding. The game, released in 2020, experienced a resurgence in popularity during the recent Game Awards: during the ceremony, Hideo Kojima announced that a second part was in preparation. In addition to the hype around the title, players got wind that the game offered by Epic was not the standard version, but the Director’s Cut!
Quite a bargain, knowing that this version contains additional intrigue and additional functions. Unfortunately, Epic’s servers (which have yet seen others) did not hold the load. For much of the day on December 25, it was impossible to download the game and even worse, for some users the interface of the Epic Games Store switched to Chinese.
In the end, things gradually returned to normal, and to allow as many players as possible to collect their gift, Epic left it online until December 26. Even if in fact of Director’s Cut, it was indeed the standard version which was offered free… Nevertheless, this special edition is on promotion 40% less expensive, that is to say 6 $ only.
