The post-apocalyptic world of Naughty Dog is back in force with two new exclusive titles and its series.
Naughty Dog just wrapped up Summer Game Fest in style with three mind-boggling announcements. The saga The Last of Us is not ready to stop since this one signs an explosive comeback with two new games and crisp new info about his series.
An ambitious multiplayer game, a remake of the game where it all started and exclusive cameos in the series: Naughty Dog is breaking the internet with its new projects and the hashtag TheLastofUs is already dominating.
The Last of Us with The Division sauce?
Neil Druckmann had barely arrived on stage when the first slap of his presentation was already falling on us: The Last of Us will have the right to its own stand-alone multiplayer game and this one looks massive. Initially conceived as a multiplayer mode for the original version of the game, the ambitions for this online mode became so impressive that it never came to fruition… Until now.
The Naughty Dog teams have been working for several years now to make this old project a completely new title in its own right. Combining the storytelling talent of the game’s teams with a living multiplayer world, the studio seems to want to offer us an experience The Last of Uslike a game like The Division. Little information has been revealed, but Neil Druckmann promises more announcements on this before the end of the year.
The return of the classic
Rumors have been hovering for some time and the project is now very real: the first title in the saga The Last of Us will return in a new version developed especially for the PlayStation 5. There is no question here of a remaster but rather of a remake that transcends the original game to bring it up to date.
Including all the mechanics of The Last of Us Part II as well as its graphics engine, this simply titled remake The Last of Us Part I will bring the original title released nine years ago back to life. We won’t have to wait long to relive the adventures of Joël and Ellie since this little new one will point the tip of his nose on PS5 next September 2. Little extra surprise: a PC version will arrive after the game’s initial release to follow Sony’s recent trend of bringing games from its studios to a new audience.
The series is on the way
If you are impatient to discover Joël and Ellie embodied by Pedro Pascal (The Mandalorian, Game Of Thrones) and Bella Ramsey (Game Of Thrones) on the small screen, know that the series is coming soon. Indeed, Neil Druckmann took advantage of this presentation full of twists and turns to reveal that the last day of filming would take place tomorrow.
Thus, the series is on schedule and should arrive on HBO next year. without incurring any further delay. On top of that, we discovered an exclusive image from the series showing our two main characters side by side. This project promises to be a tribute to the saga since Druckmann took care of directing one of the episodes, and the original actors of the characters in the game will make an appearance in the series in new roles that are still kept secret.
While many believed at the end of The Last of Us after a more than moving part 2 serving as a conclusion, the post-apocalyptic universe of Naughty Dog seems to still have many surprises in store for us in the years to come. To be continued…
