The Nets swept away!

Favorite for the title at the start of the season, Brooklyn was eliminated in the first round of the play-offs by Boston (4-0)! For its part, Philadelphia failed to conclude at home against Toronto (3-2). In the West, Dallas now leads 3-2 against Utah, which saw Donovan Mitchell get injured.

Never has a team managed to come back from a 3-0 deficit in the NBA play-offs, and the Brooklyn Nets version 2021-22, as flashy as they are, will not be the first franchise to achieve the feat. On the contrary ! Led 3-0 by Boston, Steve Nash’s men had the opportunity to finally win a victory at home, but they lost 112-116 and are therefore “swept away” by the Celtics! A pretty incredible result when you know that Brooklyn was a favorite at the start of the season. Deprived of Ben Simmons, who will not have played a single game this season, either with Philadelphia or Brooklyn, the Nets have never led during this meeting. While Boston had taken a ten-point lead in the first quarter, they came back tied at the start of the second, but the Celtics resumed their march forward (50-58, mt), to climb to +15 in end of third quarter. In the last, Brooklyn pulled away to come back to 108-109 with 1’28 remaining (Tatum had been taken out for a sixth foul 1’20 earlier), then to 109-111 with 22 seconds from the buzzer, but a lay-up from Al Horford and three free throws from Marcus Smart sealed the victory for Boston and thus the elimination of the Nets. If Kevin Durant was much better than in the first three games (39pts, 7rbds, 9pds), and Kyrie Irving (20pts, 5rbds, 5pds) and Seth Curry (23pts, 4rbds) helped him well, the Celtics were even stronger, including 29 points and 5 assists for Jayson Tatum and 20 points and 11 rebounds for Marcus Smart. Boston therefore sends Brooklyn on vacation in April, and is now waiting to face Milwaukee or Chicago (3-1 in the series).

Toronto stay alive

Philadelphia had the opportunity to conclude its series at home, it is missed. The 76ers lost 88-103 to Toronto and are now only 3-2 in the series before a trip to Canada on Thursday. The duel between the two Cameroonian stars turned to the advantage of Pascal Siakam (23pts, 10rbds, 7pds) against Joel Embiid (20pts, 11rbds, 4pds), who plays with the ligament of a torn thumb but who will not be operate only in the off-season. Except at the very beginning of the game, the 76ers were led throughout the game: 27-29 at the end of the first quarter, 41-54 at halftime, 66-75 at the end of the third. Philadelphia came back to -7 in the last quarter but never managed to get below that bar. “I wasn’t terrible defensively. There really isn’t an explanation. I have to play with more energy, move better, I have to be better, ”acknowledged Embiid, who was not very helped by James Harden (15pts at 4/11 on shots, 7pds) . While trailing 3-0, the Raptors have an opportunity to tie at 3-3 on Thursday. What if they were the first to recover from a 3-0 deficit?

Dallas curry Utah

There was a Game 5 on Monday between Dallas and Utah, but there wasn’t really a game, actually. The Mavericks won 102-77 against the Jazz, in a one-sided game where they led from start to finish (52-36, mt) and were up to 33 points ahead. This allows them to lead the series 3-2 before returning to Salt Lake City on Thursday. Luka Doncic carried the Texas franchise with 33 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists, while Jalen Brunson added 24 points and 5 rebounds. Opposite, Jordan Clarkson scored 20 points and Rudy Gobert offered himself a new double-double (17pts, 11rbds). But above all, the Jazz lost Donovan Mitchell, in big trouble during this match (9 points in 32 minutes at 0/7 at 3pts), then left in the last quarter due to an adductor injury. He will take exams on Tuesday, but there is no doubt that if he were to be absent during Match 6 or even 7, the chances of the Jazz seeing the second round would be almost nil.
