Microsoft confirms that the next three Bethesda games will be Xbox exclusives, no offense to PlayStation players.
If you’re more of a PlayStation team, then you can already draw a line under several upcoming games, which will never see the light of day on Sony consoles. At least that’s what Microsoft confirms in a document that appeared as part of the investigation into the acquisition of Activision Blizzard.
As a reminder, Microsoft confirmed its desire to acquire ZeniMax Media and all its subsidiary studios in 2020, and the acquisition was validated in 2021, the year in which it began to take effect. Since then many Bethesda games have integrated the Xbox Game Pass, and even PlayStation exclusives death loop and Ghostwire Tokyo were offered a release date on Xbox consoles after a year.
To your predictions
Today, Microsoft explains that three of the upcoming Bethesda games will be Xbox exclusives, without mentioning the name of these games. If we get caught up in the guesswork game, Starfield is obviously at the top of the list. The space simulation adventure game has an expected release date of 2023 on PC and Xbox Series X/S only.
Besides, all options are still possible. In the document, however, Microsoft specifies that these will be titles “designed to be played primarily alone or in small groups.” As a counter-example, the firm cites the games Fallout 76 and The Elder Scrolls Online as being too mainstream games to become Xbox exclusives. Will this prevent Microsoft from limiting access to the next Elder Scrolls VI to PlayStation gamers? Nothing is less certain, especially since it is primarily a solo adventure game.
The third Bethesda title that could be an Xbox exclusive is red fall. Also scheduled for 2023, the game is supposed to be released on Xbox Series X/S and PC as well. But it might as well be another single-player adventure game like the next one IndianaJones developed by Bethesda or Fallout 5 which should happen one day or another. Only time will tell if these predictions turn out to be accurate.
