This iconic comic book hero returns in a promising video game
Microids unveils an announcement trailer for an upcoming Tintin game inspired by the eponymous comics.
The boy with the red puff is back. During Pegasus 2023, which took place on March 9, Microids made an announcement that surprised many. The French publisher has shared an announcement trailer for a game featuring the famous Tintin, Belgian national figure for comic book fans. Imagined by Hergé, the hero finds a game named Tintin Reporter – Cigars of the Pharaoh.
The first thing that can be noticed is that this new Tintin game promises to be very visually pleasing. At least during the cinematic sequences, the title seems to take pleasure in making the graphics almost photorealistic and playing with light in an exemplary way. In terms of the plot, head to Egypt, where Tintin will have to put on his investigator costume:
“Tintin and his faithful companion Snowy are going to live extraordinary adventures… After meeting Professor Siclone during a crossing of the Mediterranean, the famous reporter goes in search of the tomb of the pharaoh Kih-Oskh. But what dark secret does it hold? From Egypt to India, via Arabia, Tintin and Snowy will have to investigate a drug case in the East. ”
A game faithful to his comics like Snowy faithful to his master
Fans of the work will have recognized it, it is the same synopsis as the fourth album of the Adventures of Tintin, and that’s good since the game is baptized the same. In terms of gameplay, very few images have been shown, we just know that it should alternate between “action and reflection phases” and combine all the best of action-adventure games. In its reinterpretation of the character, Microids perpetuates the tradition by not giving a precise age or appearance to Tintin, which makes it still timeless today.
Adult or child, he will in any case have to undo one of the largest narcotics networks in the East and the tomb of Pharaoh Kih-Oskh is not there for nothing in this affair. For the moment, no precise release date has been announced, but we should be able to get our hands on it during the year on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PC and Nintendo Switch. This will be an exclusively single-player game, so don’t expect co-op or multiplayer just yet.
