Your dreams of piracy will still have to wait, Skull and Bones sees its release delayed by several months.
Put away your sail, your maritime epic under the sign of piracy will have to wait. As we were to discover Skull and Bones in just a few weeks – on November 8 precisely – Ubisoft has decided otherwise… for a good cause. Indeed the release date has just been shifted by several months. It is now March 9, 2023 that we make an appointment with the ocean and its hidden treasures.
In its press release, the studio explains that this delay is simply due to a keen sense of perfection. Teams wanting to avoid crunch – the intense period at the end of a game’s development – will need a few extra months to provide us with an optimal experience. Ubisoft explains very briefly:
“Our team is working hard to fine-tune and balance the experience ahead of global launch. […] We can’t wait for you all to get your hands on Skull and Bones and dive headfirst into the dangerous and exciting world of building your own pirate empire. To give you the best possible experience, we’ve decided to take a little extra time to make sure that’s exactly what we’re going to do..”
A beta open to the sea
However, in its few very brief lines, Ubisoft had time to tell us some good news. Skull and Bones will benefit from an open beta testing period, so you can take the helm sooner than expected. We do not yet know the terms of this beta and Ubisoft will keep us informed in the coming weeks:
“For the most impatient among you, we are also very happy to announce that we will be hosting an open beta of the game in the near future. We’ll let you know how you can join soon, so keep your eyes peeled on our social media for further news and announcements..”
