(Washington) The Vice-President of the United States, Kamala Harris, must go from March 9 to 11 to Poland and then to Romania to show her support for these two countries at a time when the war is raging in Ukraine and when more than one million Ukrainians have fled their country, the White House announced on Friday.

This visit, which will take her to Warsaw and then to Bucharest, “will prove the strength and unity of NATO as well as American support for the allies on the eastern flank” of the military alliance, according to a press release.

The vice-president also intends to address “how the United States can further help the countries neighboring Ukraine as they welcome and take care of the refugees” who arrive by the thousands, according to the same source.

According to the High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), more than 1.2 million people had fled the war on Friday to go to neighboring countries of Ukraine.
